Press Freedom is part of the first amendment ... remember?

Threats to journalism and journalists are at an all time high, yet many Americans are unaware of how that affects their daily lives—or worse, they are participating in the attacks. Focus groups told us that many even consider press freedom a protection for journalists, and don’t see its benefit to every citizen through the guarding of our access to vital information.

The Protect Your Right to Know campaign, spanning tv, digital, radio, and print, moved beyond partisan perspectives on the issue by going back to the basics. By linking press freedom to its daily personal impact and emphasizing its first amendment status, the campaign reminds the audience that it’s just as critical to American democracy as freedom of speech and assembly.
